Week 6 Back up and Review

My favorite post this week was a very recent one. The picture of this little kitten grabbed my attention as I love animals and specially dogs and cats. It is adorable how this little kitten I trying to climb the step and reminded me how I have been trying everyday to do better in school so I can reach somewhere in future. In fact, all of the students are taking steps to reach their goal and going to college and trying to gain a bachelor's degree is just one of those steps. We are all learning step by step and we all will get there if we just hang in there like this little cute cat.

Week 6 Famous Last words

This week was definitely better in terms of classes and projects than previous weeks. I learned so much and truly think I have gotten better at writing. The corrections and revisions for our portfolio stories that I have been making with professor’s help has helped me learn a lot. There were few of the grammar mistakes I made that I didn’t even know about. I did not know that vocative needs a comma both before and after when it's inside a sentence. So far the week has been great. I have enjoyed all the readings. My favorite part was listening to Narayana’s secret when I was doing the extra credit reading assignment. There were so many things that touched my heart. I listened to it twice. The first time was for my post and I was mostly thinking about what to write about it and taking notes. While taking notes, there we things I wanted to listen to again. This story is filled with so many good quotes and lesson to live life with Hinduism. The Character of Narad led to his restless life and he became the cause of anger.  I listened to it again after completing my post. The second time was mostly for my sake. Even though I am a Hindu, there are so many things I am getting to learn about Hinduism in this class and am slowly falling in love with Hinduism and learning more about it.

Talking more about classes, my other major MIS classes has started to pick up. The assignments, quizzes and exams are lining up and it has started to get crazy. I am thankful to have so many friends taking same classes so we can group up and study together. I have 4 exams in a row in two weeks and preparing for that has been a task.

Week 6 Learning Challenges: Morning Person

I personally think waking up early in the morning makes you really productive. There is so many things that can be done early in the morning. This is something I have been working on this semester. I am really not a morning person but I know it feels great on days I wake up super early. There is so much you can get done and even exercise. I asked my manager at work to schedule me early in the morning somedays so that I have to wake up early and feel great.

Week 6 Extra credit reading Part A (Ganesha, Narayana)

The introduction of the Ganesha’s Secret was really impressive when it says “different people see god differently.” The narrator’s words are really impressive about Hinduism. The narrator has an informative and commanding voice. The elephant head that was used to resurrect Vinayaka, the son of Parvati was of Erawat, the elephant of rain god Indra. Ganesha represents the balance between mortal body and immortal head. Human body going thru cycle of death and rebirth, elephant head is spiritual and immortal.
“What dies is always reborn”, I think this is the whole idea behind Hinduism. The story has a lot of meaningful words and ideas that explains Hinduism. We all die to be born again. Life is about living, about participation, not escaping. There is no sense of urgency to dominate. This story is filled with so many good quotes and lesson to live life with Hinduism. The Character of Narad led to his restless life and he became the cause of anger.

I really loved listening to this story Part A. First of all the narrator’s voice is really pleasant and not annoying even after listening to it for almost an hour. There are many information presented here that gives us what Hinduism is. I really loved all of it.

Week 6 Growth Mindset: Dealing with anxiety

Talking more about growth mindset for this week, I would like to share something I have been working on. I struggle with anxiety most of my days. Specially being a college student has put more pressure and sometimes it gets too overwhelming. It is hard for me to stay calm in an environment where there is always something going on. I get anxious when I am around too many people like in class, while working in computer labs or even when I am in a movie hall. It feels like I am being trapped and desperate to get out. Now being a college student, going to classes and working with people is something I have to do. I have slowly accepted this fact and my anxiety is getting better. I have realized the fact that ‘it is all in our head’. We need to keep control of our mind and not overthink the situation. It is in your hands to take control of situations and your mind and do what is best for you.
