Week 5 Extra Credit Reading: Rouse Part A

The story in this reading part A of the Rouse were very interesting. I like the part in a hypocritical cat, where the cat pretends to be doing a noble act and stands on one foot facing towards the sun. When the rats who thought he was a noble cat and came to worship him, he grabbed and ate the last rat. But he couldn’t continue this drama because he gets caught by the chief of the rats. He ended up dead after he tried to snap the chief of the rat. The other interesting story that caught my eyes was the Pious wolf. He gets stuck on the top of a big rock surrounded by water with no food. So he pretends to fast because he had no food anyways. But, when the fairy comes to examine him for the validity of his fasting he fails and he gets a punishment of being trapped there to fast for a whole week. For me, the whole theme of the stories that I read was to be of a good heart. We should act, work only when we meant it to from deep inside our heart. If we are just faking what we are doing, the end results are not good. Do it from your heart, be true and speak the truth. Doing stuff just to look noble in the eyes of others and having a different thoughts in your mind is not a good act at all. Even in the story of the Crocodile and the monkey, the crocodile tries to act like he wanted to help the monkey cross the river to the other side where there were more foods, and having a different idea in his mind, that is to eat the monkey’s heart. The crocodile ended up making a fool out of himself. So to sum up, work from your heat, be pure minded and don’t foul play on someone else because you will end up getting hurt, making a fool out of yourself and even die because of your act.
